Snow Corn Snake


Where, geographically, are these reptiles found in the world?
The snow corn snake can be found throughout North America. Mainly in New Mexico and Florida. They are generally sold as pets in various pet stores.

Does this reptile represent a subspecies and/or any color varieties within this species?
To get a type of corn snake known as a "Snow Corn", you would cross an amelanistic corn snake with an anerythristic corn snake and then backcross the offspring. Their offspring would produce a 1 in 16 chance of producing a "snow corn snake".

General Information
-Snow corn snakes average between 3.9-5.9 feet and can weigh anywhere between 35 to 300 grams depending on feeding regimes.
-Snow corn snakes live in the wild for around 6 years, but in captivity for up to 23.
-Snow corn snakes prefer habitats such as overgrown fields, forest openings, trees and flatwoods.
-The snow corn snake is only one of many 'morphs' of the normal corn snake.
-They are not endangered, in fact, the majority of corn snakes are ideal pet snakes for newcoming reptile owners.

Reproduction
Snow corn snakes usually breed after winter cooling. They reach sexual maturity at 18-36 months. Generally, the female lays 12-24 eggs.

Care in Captivity
Snow corn snakes are usually kept in a medium sized cage, depending on their size, most can be kept in a smaller type cage. They eat "pinkie" type mice, and are kept at a temperature of between 77-89 degrees fahrenheit.
